Cinesite to Provide Creature Effects for Clash of the Titans

Cinesite has been selected by Warner Bros. to provide major creature animation on CLASH OF THE TITANS. The work involves a major battle sequence, and will include 2D and 3D shots as well as a lead CG creature.

CLASH OF THE TITANS, directed by Louis Leterrier (THE INCREDIBLE HULK) with Nick Davis as visual effects supervisor, is a remake of the 1981 film. It is the myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda.

Cinesite's Managing Director Antony Hunt said, "It's an exciting project to be involved with, and we're looking forward to further developing our creature pipeline to take CG creature animation to the next level of realism."

Cinesite Visual Effects Supervisor Simon Stanley-Clamp, one of the U.K.'s leading visual effects supervisors, will oversee the work on this project. Stanley-Clamp's credits include HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, among many others, lending his creative expertise to some of Cinesite's most challenging work to date.

Principal photography on CLASH OF THE TITANS begins in May with the film set for release in 2010.

Cinesite is currently working on THE PRISONER for ITV/AMC, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE for Warner Bros., as well as Disney's PRINCE OF PERSIA, HBO's CHURCHILL AT WAR and Blacklight Films/Disney Nature's NAKED BEAUTY.

Elton John's Rocket Pictures has set Will Clark to direct PRIDE AND PREDATOR, in which aliens invade a traditional period costume drama and wreck havoc, per VARIETY.

Clark, the director of short THE AMAZING TROUSERS, wrote the script with Andrew Kemble and John Pape. Filming is set to begin later this year in London. John will exec produce with Rocket partners Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish producing. "It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect," Furnish said.

As with ever Rocket film, John will supervise the music. The production company is also working on the CG-animated feature GNOMEO AND JULIET at Miramax/Disney with James McAvoy and Emily Blunt voicing the title characters.
